Bamboo Houses: Are They Worth It?

My husband and I went on a road trip last weekend. We were driving down the interstate when we saw a billboard advertising a company that made bamboo houses. We are considering building a house soon and the companys showcase was only ten miles down the road. We decided that we wanted to check out these bamboo houses. We were so surprised by the array of options people who use bamboo to build their houses have. The particular company whose showcase we visited builds houses that are completed made of bamboo, as well as houses that use bamboo as the main structural material. Some of the bamboo houses that we saw there looked almost exactly like regular houses. Others incorporated an exotic or tropical theme that I was not crazy about. My husband, on the other hand, loved the bamboo houses that looked like they came directly from a tropical desert island.
